Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Accountant / Finance Manager to lead our accounting team and oversee all accounting activities within our ecommerce business. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for driving operational excellence. As the Chief Accountant / Finance Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the finance department of the company and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.


  1. Scope
    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including procure to pay, and order to cash received cycles along with general ledger functions.
    • Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financials.
    • Ensure the Implementation of financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
  1. Main Responsibilities
  • The reconciliation of revenue between ERP, Back office, TMS, ensuring accurate recognition of revenue and adherence to revenue recognition policies.
  • Perform reconciliations of cash collected through different channels including COD, Payment gateways, 3PL or Direct transfers. Perform reconciliation of cash collections with sales records and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Automation of the revenue and receivable reconciliations between Platform, ERP, and collection channels.
  • Review the inventory costing process, including checking and reconciliation of cost of goods sold from different systems WMS, Platform and ERP
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data for migration of inventory and costing data from WMS to ERP platform
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to make sure all the costs / Discounts & Rebates are recognized on time.
  • Proper accounting of operational costs i.e. ops / logistics, payroll, IFRS 16 and other G&A Costs. 
  • Ensure that all balance sheet schedules are prepared and reviewed on a monthly basis
  • Oversee the accounts’ payable function, ensuring timely processing of invoices, expense reports, and vendor payments.
  • Ensuring that Banks are properly reconciled and closed on a timely basis. 
  • Management and reconciliation of customer wallets, rebates, discounts, promo’s etc.
  • Ensure that VAT and Statutory tax filings are accurate and on time.
  • Ensure that all info required by statutory / government / internal audit is prepared adequately and in a timely manner.
  1. Others:
    • Continuous improvements in processes and controls.
    • Automation of accounting and reconciliation processes.
    • Coordinate with external auditors and Tax consultants to facilitate the annual audit process and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  1. Team Leadership and Development:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
    • Delegate tasks effectively, set performance objectives, and provide feedback to support the professional growth and development of team members.
    • Conduct regular training sessions to enhance the technical skills and knowledge of the accounting team.

Requirements (Hard Skills)

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; ACCA / CMA / CPA or equivalent certification will be a plus.
  • Proven experience (7+ years) in accounting or finance roles, with at least (4) years in a managerial or supervisory capacity in Finance Department in E-Commerce / Retail.
  • Experience on ERP implementation and managing the transition from Old ERP to new ERP. 
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex financial data to inform decision-making.
  • Proficiency in financial management software and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (NetSuite experience is a plus)
  • Experience of working on Big Data.
